LaMoi Suriname N.V.

LaMoi Suriname N.V. is an initiative focused on organizing large-scale and sustainable food production chains. It is assisted in this endeavor by Wageningen Metropolitan Food Clusters, a part of Wageningen University.
Research conducted by WMFC has shown that Suriname has the potential to become a major food producer with opportunities for export to countries in the region and beyond. LaMoi Suriname N.V. considers it its duty to fully harness this potential while ensuring minimal negative impact on the environment, increasing

prosperity and well-being for every Surinamese citizen, and achieving sustainability through the use of innovative methods and technology.

On 25 April 2023, LaMoi Suriname N.V. organized an event at the Assuria Hermitage High-Rise to inform food producers in Suriname about thisinitiative.

Our Team

LaMoi Suriname N.V. was incorporated in august 2022. The team behind it currently consists of a group of motivated experts with extensive experience.

George Lazo

George Lazo comes from an agricultural background having completed his education in Groningen, the Netherlands. He has been working as an entrepreneur in various sectors in Suriname since 1993 and has a wide network. George has served as a policy advisor at the Directorate of Agricultural Development of the Interior of the Ministry of Regional Development Suriname. Since its establishment in 2001, he has also been the Chair of ABI (Association of Interior Industrialists). Additionally, he worked as a guide for his tour business, Arinze Tours, and is actively involved in the woodcarving sector through his company Madeira Enterprise. With all of this experience and his expertise in agriculture, George, as one of the two directors of LaMoi Suriname N.V., brings an unparalleled perspective on Suriname's possibilities to the table.

Maisah Burleson

Maisah Burleson has been working as a senior advisor in Labor Law, HR and Mediation in Suriname since 2008. In 1997, she graduated from the law faculty of the University of Amsterdam. Maisah works mainly for the large local companies in the private sector in Suriname and also has experience with international organizations. In addition, Maisah is specialized in Human Resource Management. Combined with labor law, her perspective and approach are twofold making her expertise unique. Maisah is also a trained professional mediator. Since April 2022, she is the Chair of the Foundation Mediation Professionals Suriname. As such, LaMoi Suriname N.V. benefits directly from legal support as well as strategic HR consulting and access to professionals in conflict management.

Ray Moi Thuk Shung

Ray Moi Thuk Shung has been trained in Personnel and Labor as well as in Security Studies in the Netherlands. He is an entrepreneur and general manager of N.V. Thuk that has been internationally certified since his appointment. The company has grown from 40 to over 400 security personnel with the opening of a second branch in the Nickerie District. As such, he leads one of the biggest security companies in Suriname. Ray’s entrepreneurship, business insight and experience to grow are instrumental to LaMoi Suriname N.V.

Naomi Hu-a-ng

Naomi Hu-a-ng graduated in Small Business & Retail Management in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Since 2005, she has been living in Suriname, worked for Tjong A Hung Accountants and is now Manager of the department of Electronic Security at N.V. Thuk. Naomi’s local and international experience as well as her dedication in setting up and implementing large projects is essential as one of the two directors of LaMoi Suriname N.V.
